Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has scoffed at Deputy President William Ruto for conducting numerous political rallies in a month.

A local publication had on Friday, November 5, established that the second in command managed to hold 135 political rallies in 30 days, breaking a record that may exist.

Weighing in on the findings, Amisi said despite Ruto holding several rallies, ODM leader Raila Odinga had only used one gathering to counter and neutralise him.

“William Ruto has done 135 rallies, Raila Odinga uses one rally to diffuse all he had said in the 135 rallies. 135 :1 is the ratio,” said Amisi.

With nine months to the 2022 General Election, the lawmaker said that while Ruto needs 1,215 rallies to popularise his presidential bid, the former premier needs only nine.

“With nine months to 2022, Ruto may require 1,215 rallies. While Baba (Raila) requires only nine rallies plus one last mammoth at Uhuru Park,” he added.

Used public funds to conduct private rallies

Apart from Amisi, Nyeri Township MP Ngunjiri Wambugu ridiculed Ruto for using state resources to conduct private political rallies.

According to Wambugu, the fact that Ruto who holds the second busiest office on land was able to go around the country to conduct 135 rallies, meant he no longer serves Kenyans who gave him the mandate.

“What they don’t realise is that they have just confirmed that we – as Kenyans – pay Ruto a government salary as a deputy president. However what he does everyday is work as a presidential aspirant,” said Wambugu.

The first-time lawmaker who is one of the fiercest critics of the deputy president argued that it would be impossible for Ruto to hold such gatherings and still deliver as a second in command.

This, he said, was a clear confirmation that Ruto made little or no impact in the Jubilee administration success story particularly in its second term.

Raila in Nyandarua

In other news, Raila received a warm reception in Nyandarua county on Saturday, November 6, where he popularised his Azimio la Umoja agenda.

After the tour, Raila posted an appreciation message in Gikuyu language on his social media platforms.

“Nī thengio mūno andū a Nyandarua. Nīndakena mūno nī inyuī, nītūgūcoka rīngī. Ngai amūrathime. (Thank you so much people of Nyandarua. I am so happy to be here. I will be back again. God bless you),” Raila posted.
